Nautical Manufacturing and Fulfillment is a veteran-owned, asset-based supply chain company launched in 2017 by Navy Veteran Patrick Cunningham after recognizing a large demand for the optimization of fulfillment operations for businesses in the Kansas City metro area. After winning a large contract with a world-renowned big box retailer, we formed a series of subsidiary entities to focus on improved supply chain strategy–from manufacturing and shipping, to staffing and warehousing. Manufacturing & Sourcing We subcontract manufacturing through a network of factories spanning the world across China, India, Turkey, and Vietnam. Our team in China forms direct relationships with manufacturers (with boots on the ground) and delivers to our clients’ specs through constant close communication and multiple quality inspection points. We’ve sourced over 2 billion units of product, over $50 million in product inventory. Freight Forwarding Our freight forwarding company is based in LA, it gets freight from our manufacturers, but also acts as a freight broker for other companies needed to ship products internationally. International freight is brought in across land, sea, and air through third parties to anywhere in the world. We also run a domestic trucking company that moves that product from any port of entry to anywhere in the US. Over 12k TEUs are shipped annually, and over 70k kilos are transported by air annually Warehousing & Fulfillment As an asset-based 3PL, we fulfill out of our 465k sq ft warehouse in KC, with 2-day shipping to most of the US. Most of our manufactured product flows through our warehouse. Currently have 23,000 rack spaces, with the option to add an additional 12,000 more. We offer standard pallet racked space, non-standard pallet, and floor storage. We are a food-grade, FDA-registered warehouse with real-time inventory management and state-of-the-art security. Most of our parcel shipping is through FedEx; thanks to our partner affiliation, we have highly competitive shipping rates (we’re often able to achieve the best shipping rates in the country for our clients). Our services come with full API integration capabilities and highly-competitive shipping rates. We offer pallet in / pallet out fulfillment via FTL & FTL, and parcel shipping capabilities. We offer assembly and kitting services, if needed. For the Kansas City region, we also have asset-based local box truck for load delivery services We Ship & Receive over 1,000 Pallets Monthly, with a 99.9% accuracy rate. Marketing & Packaging Services // Project-based Services Our KC warehouse is also the home to our project-based marketing promotional services arm. We have 10 overwrap machines that process millions of fin-seal overwrapped samples per month. These samples include a trial-size product and literature card wrapped inside a clear plastic pouch, and are used for marketing experiential or included as a bonus promotional insert with consumer orders (example: liquid IV). Our clients for overwrap services include Target, Walmart, Kroger, Nintendo, Starbucks, and others. We also provide other project-based marketing and packaging services, including glue tipping/tip-on gluing (attaching two materials or a product to a lit card with a dot of fugitive glue), promotional bag assembly (putting together promotional giveaway ‘bags’ or ‘kits’), subscription box assembly, FBA prep services, and repack jobs (repackaging factory items into a variety of consumer purchase configurations). For all project-based services, we run the production and then fulfill the orders from our 3PL center. We process over 3 million overwrap samples per month. Warehouse Staffing & Consulting With the number of projects we service, our company was using a large number of temp workers. We saw an opportunity to provide a better experience for both the workers and our clients, creating opportunities for the marginalized & underserved sectors of our workforce while simultaneously addressing labor shortages and seasonal fluctuations. Influenced directly by our sustainability initiatives, we set out to create a better kind of staffing company–one where people were not thought of as single-use disposables (to borrow from the plastics pollution problem), but given a foundation for more consistent work and a pathway out of poverty. We’ve placed over 100 individuals into temporary positions in the last six months–and this number is rapidly increasing.
